Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina
Jolie Voight (born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California), is an American
actor, director, and producer best known for her sex appeal as well as her
humanitarian work. Jolie, the daughter and actor Jon Voight, was raised in New
York. After her growing up, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she played the
part of an inpatient with mental illness in Girl, interrupted (1999). After
having attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute two years ago, she
later attended Beverly Hills High School. New York University later taught her
drama. Jolie was also an actor in theater productions. She also did modeling
and appeared in music videos. Jolie met Jonny Lee Miller (1996, divorced 1999).
The film was not able to attract an audience, as did another series of films.
However, in 1997, Jolie gained a lot of notice for her performance as the wife
of Alabama's segregationist governor in the television film George Wallace, and
she later received an award called the Golden Globe Award for her performance.
The following year she played a supermodel struggling with drug addiction in
the HBO film Gia, a performance that earned her multiple honours which included
a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1999 she appeared in the
comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and the following
year , she was married to Billy Bob Thornton (divorced 2003).After the
Oscar-winning role in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie starred in a series of
action-oriented films. In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)) she played Nicole
Cage's girlfriend. Later, she changed her accent to the British accent and
learned combat sports and kickboxing for the role of the title in Lara Croft
Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). She
played Alexander's mom in Oliver Stone's Alexander in 2004 and additionally,
she starred alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of
Tomorrow, a thriller about sci-fi set in 1930s New York City. Both films did
poorly at the box-office, but Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was the
biggest success. Jolie played a character who was playing a typical homewife
during the making of the movie. Brad Pitt became her co-star.
